As Ghana approaches its December 7 elections, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made a firm commitment to uphold the principles of democracy by ensuring the elections are free, fair, and peaceful.
In a meeting with the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that no candidate would be imposed on the citizens against their will. He reassured that the democratic process and the nation’s reputation for fair elections would remain intact.
"The choice of a leader is the sovereign will of the people," the President stated, underscoring his dedication to protecting this fundamental democratic right during his tenure.
He reiterated, "We are going to do everything possible to make sure that the elections to be held in December are free, fair, and credible. We do not subscribe to the view that a group of people can manipulate the will of the people and impose a leader on them."
President Akufo-Addo stressed that the upcoming elections would genuinely reflect the people's choice, reinforcing the government's commitment to a transparent and democratic electoral process.
In conclusion, President Akufo-Addo’s assurance of a free and fair election aims to maintain Ghana's democratic standards and ensure that the will of the people prevails in the December polls.
