Two residents of Bole are in critical condition following an alleged assault by military operatives at an illegal mining site in the Bole District. Reports suggest that the military personnel were deployed by the Savannah Regional Minister to the area.

The victims, including Yakubu Mahama, the NPP Vice-Chairman for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency, are currently undergoing treatment at the Bole Government Hospital. Sources indicate that military forces have been used to provide security for Chinese miners engaged in illegal mining activities in the region.

The incident reportedly began with a confrontation between the military personnel and Yakubu Mahama, who is also involved in illegal mining (Galamsey). This altercation escalated, resulting in severe beatings inflicted on Mahama and another individual.

In response to the incident, angry youth from Bole gathered at the local police station where the victims were taken by the military. To control the situation, the military fired warning shots to disperse the crowd.

The situation remains tense as the community awaits further developments.
