Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to the NDC flagbearer, stands firm and proud of her age, viewing it as a source of strength rather than a setback.

This declaration came in response to recent remarks made by Majority Leader Afenyo-Markin, who, in March 2024, referred to her as an "old cargo," implying she had failed to perform during her tenure in the previous government.

Speaking to female media professionals in Accra, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, aged 72, reflected on her journey with a sense of pride and gratitude. As a former Education Minister, she emphasized that her age brings a wealth of experience and wisdom, invaluable to her role and the nation.

"Let everybody understand that I’m very proud of every minute God has given me. If He gives me more, I’ll be more grateful. But my life is in His hands, not anybody else’s. I don’t consider my age a nuisance; I consider it a blessing," she affirmed.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang challenged her critics to focus on more substantial issues. "What else is there to say? Is that all they could say? Did they also say that I was corrupt? Why couldn’t they say that I was insulting people?" she questioned.

She urged for a broader perspective, dismissing age-based criticisms as needless distractions. "A lot of these things we must see as unnecessary and unuseful distractions. Is that all they can say? They should find other forms. What about their own selves? I never said I was an angel, but I don’t think I’ve killed anybody’s child."

In conclusion, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed her contentment and optimism, "I’m happy with myself, I’m proud of how far God has brought me, and I believe God will take everybody much further."

Her words serve as an inspiring reminder that age is not a hindrance but a testament to a life well-lived and a future still ripe with potential.
