In a shocking incident at a construction site in Tebu, Ga South municipality, one person was killed and three others injured following an attack by armed land guards. The violence erupted when the guards demanded a GH₵4,000 digging fee, despite the workers having already paid a different group of land guards the previous Thursday.

According to a report by Accra-based Citi News, the confrontation turned deadly when the workers refused to pay the fee again. The land guards opened fire, resulting in the tragic death of one worker and injuries to three others. Among the injured is Felix Akunnor, who sustained a gunshot wound to his foot.

Akunnor recounted the harrowing experience, explaining how the land guards aggressively confronted them about working on the land without settling the digging fee a second time.

Assemblyman for the Danchera electoral area, Ebenezer Ahortor, highlighted that this attack is part of a long-standing issue. For years, land guards have been terrorizing residents and developers in the area. Despite numerous complaints to the authorities, including the Danchera police station, no effective action has been taken due to a lack of resources for crime prevention.

Mr. Ahortor stressed the urgent need for increased security measures and resources to protect residents and developers from the ongoing threat posed by land guards. This incident underscores the critical need for law enforcement to take decisive action to curb the activities of these violent groups and ensure the safety of the community.

The Tebu attack is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by land guards and the pressing need for robust measures to address this menace, ensuring that residents can live and work in peace without fear of violence.
