The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has recently disbursed an additional GH¢135.6 million to healthcare providers across the country. This significant funding aims to settle outstanding claims for February 2024 for higher-tier healthcare providers and March 2024 for most lower-tier facilities.

This latest payment is part of NHIA's ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between reimbursements to higher and lower-tier facilities, ensuring that all pending payments fall within the agreed three-month period. This effort is essential for maintaining the smooth operation of healthcare services nationwide.

Earlier this year, the NHIA had already released GH¢300 million to mixed-tier health facilities, showcasing its commitment to supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, CEO of the NHIA, emphasized the Authority's dedication to fostering a strong partnership with healthcare facilities. He reiterated the NHIA's commitment to preventing illegal charges and ensuring that healthcare providers are adequately supported, recognizing their critical role in the success of the NHIS.

This financial boost from the NHIA not only addresses outstanding arrears but also reinforces the national healthcare system, ensuring that providers can continue delivering essential services to the population.
