As the 2024 general elections approach, Hajia Samira Bawumia, Ghana’s Second Lady, has made an impassioned plea to the nation, urging citizens to rally behind her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer. Speaking at Effiakuma Zongo, popularly known as ‘VIP’, in Takoradi on August 17, during a prelude to the party’s Manifesto Launch, she confidently asserted, “Ghana’s future will be better if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia becomes president.”

With deep conviction in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead the country, Samira Bawumia emphasized that his presidency would usher in significant progress for the nation. She pointed to the numerous social interventions introduced by the Akufo-Addo administration, expressing hope that these initiatives would continue to flourish under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.

Drawing from her personal experiences, the Second Lady shared her journey from growing up in a Zongo community to achieving success through education. She underscored the transformative power of the government’s free educational policy, stating, “I was born and nurtured in the Zongo, and if it hadn’t been for education, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

As part of her efforts to engage with the community, Samira Bawumia also paid a courtesy visit to Muslim leaders at the Mosque in ‘Pipe Ano’, a suburb of Takoradi, further strengthening her outreach and connection with the people.

This rallying call from the Second Lady highlights the critical choice facing Ghanaians in the upcoming election, as the nation stands on the brink of potential transformation under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.
